South East Development (Melbourne) ACC - abbreviated to SED throughout this website - is part of a national network of Area Consultative Committees (ACCs).
The ACC network provides an important link between the Australian Government and rural and metropolitan Australia. As volunteer, community (regional) based organisations, ACCs are uniquely placed to respond to issues within their regions and provide a vital conduit to Government on local, social and economic conditions.
Working in partnership with business, the community and government, ACCs identify and foster opportunities for sustainable regional development. This can be through informing local business about Government initiatives, supporting regional skills development, or assisting with economic development/employment opportunities.
South East Development is an Incorporated Association run by a Board of Directors.
The national network of Area Consultative Committees (ACCs) has been an important link between the Australian Government and rural and metropolitan Australia.
The Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, the Hon Anthony Albanese MP announced on 20 March 2008 that as foreshadowed in the Governments key regional election commitments, Area Consultative Committees (ACCs) would provide the basis for the creation of Regional Development Australia (RDA).
Therefore ACCs will transition to become local Regional Development Australia committees. As a first step, the ACC Chairs Reference Group will become the RDA Interim Board until 31 December 2008.
In the transition period, the information on this website should be used only as a guide to the functions and activities of the RDA network. This website will be updated frequently until the transition to RDA is complete.
