The inaugural year for the Architectural Excellence in the South East Awards produced a flurry of applications. This is the first time awards of this type have been held in the south east region and their announcement created much interest and competition. The Awards, created to highlight design excellence in Melbourne's south east, were presided over by three eminent judges - Professor Catherin Bull (Melbourne University), Professor Leon van Schaik (RMIT University) and architectural photographer, John Gollings.
The Chairman's Premier Award for outstanding architectural design was awarded to Robert Simeoni Pty Ltd Architects for the outstanding Woolamai House project, undertaken for Robert Simeoni's high profile client, Bruno Grollo.
